Help Morty survive cancer

Donation protected
Hi everyone, this is Kirstie and Dave.

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your help with our beloved cat, Morty, who has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma.

It makes it an especially challenging time for us as Morty is such a huge part of our story and family. He is our home, our peace, and our comfort, along with his best bud + other cat, Randy. With your support, we hope to keep our little family whole as we build our future together.

We adopted Morty, along with our other cat Randy, when he was 6 years old from Crumbs and Whiskers, a cat café in Los Angeles that partners with Stray Cat Alliance to help homeless cats find their forever homes.

When we adopted Morty, it was at a time LA didn't quite feel like home for either of us yet. Finding him and bringing him into our home allowed us to start putting down roots and building a life together.

Morty has been a calming presence in our lives and has a funny way of always appearing in the middle of things—no matter how loud or chaotic the room gets. He’ll find a spot right in the center of the action and be perfectly content sitting and quietly taking it all in. The only thing that seems to annoy him is...well...Randy, who can oftentimes be the polar opposite to Morty’s temperament but they love each other deeply and cuddle one another daily. They were bonded the moment we brought them home. We call them our cuddlebugs!

During a routine dental procedure, the vet discovered a concerning mass in Morty’s mouth. Further testing soon confirmed a diagnosis of lymphoma.

Although Morty’s diagnosis has been tough to process, we’re encouraged by the doctors’ assessment: the tumor in his mouth is highly treatable with radiation, and multiple scans have confirmed that no other areas of his body are affected.

By pursuing direct radiation therapy, Morty has a very strong chance of going into remission and living a happy, comfortable life without pain. Since the tumor is the only confirmed source of cancer, we’re fully committed to this treatment to give him the best possible care and quality of life.

If we had any indication that he would be in pain or discomfort as a result of this life-saving treatment, we would not pursue it, out of respect and love for Morty.

Morty has sat with us through our tears, our laughter, and all of the highs and lows offering us purrs, snuggles, and comfort. We love him so very much and wish to have more time with him.

Therefore, we are asking for help.

The costs we are facing are significant:

Radiation therapy: $9,575
CT scans (Primary and follow-up): $8916
X-rays and ultrasound: $2,085
Oncologist visits (3): $750

This brings our total to $21,326 to give Morty a fighting chance.

If you've ever had a pet, you can understand that they are less pets and more like family. Morty’s been with us through so much, and we can’t bring ourselves to accept him leaving us while his quality of life is still so high. We’re reaching out to you -- cat lovers, friends, and family for any help you can give to keep him healthy and comfortable. Every bit makes a difference, and we’re endlessly grateful for the kindness and support during this difficult time.

Thank you for helping us give Morty a chance at a continued happy, healthy, high quality life. We graciously appreciate any amount, any share, and any support. Thank you all!

For now, please enjoy this picture of Morty's fangs while he plays. lol!
