Morton Family Rebuild #RanchFire

Donation protected
My name is Corrina Morton... this campaign is for my parents who lost their home, shop, and several outbuildings in the Ranch Fire...

A message from Dad:

Hi all... You know, it doesn't seem so long ago that the good Lord provided us, Ken and Linda, our own piece of land on this rock we all call home, where we raised Corrina and built a family... able to share our unique property with Amber, Corrina, our grandchildren, family and many many friends.

In the Springtime of our lives together, we started out in a tent with a dirt floor and managed to piece together a 20×20 building that was intended to be a garage... Throughout the beginning years of our simple life, with no power, we made our stay in this building. We eventually added on to make a beautiful home.

In 1980, we learned the hard lesson that, "God will not give you anything more than you can handle." While working as a heavy equipment operator I tipped a backhoe, severely damaging my back. Scared to death, I would put off surgery until the late 90's. Over the next several years, four surgeries would leave me permanently disabled... still able to walk, function and get by.... stubborn much?!?

The years to follow would challenge us, ...but we were determined to develop our land. With the use of a portable saw mill, we were fortunate to be able to harvest trees from the land to build the shell of a 30'×40' garage/shop with a small bathroom and area enough to make into a granny unit if needed. We also developed a gravitational water system, and enough battery operated solar power to sustain comfortable living. Humbled by the opportunity to make our mark with our own hands, shear determination and the help of several family and friends, the Lord blessed us with a finished home and an almost finished garage.

Over the years, our family has made many traditions from gathering on Holidays and birthdays to whenever BBQ's. Or, just to get away from phone or internet service... just plain ole "Living The Dream!"

We have been humbled by the opportunity to make their mark and would like to complete this again...  which will be extremely challenging considering we had no homeowner's or fire insurance. (As many are aware, due to the isolated area bordering the national forest, we are ineligible for insurance).

We would like to carry on the Morton Family Magic ...so the girls and grandchildren can continue making this property grow into whatever they want it to be... we know that it will take awhile; however, even in the late 60's of our lives, we are eager to rebuild!

We look forward to being able to help those in our small community rebuild also, not only rebuilding homes, but rebuilding all of our lives, as this journey continues.

Someone once said,  "We are not promised a tomorrow, ...so cherish EVERY day you are blessed to have. " This is so true... With a little help from our friends and family, we would like to rebuild!!!

Please give what you can. The funds from this account will be used by Ken and Linda Morton to begin the rebuild of their home, garage and out buildings that were lostin the Ranch Fire.
