Morpheus the pug is a three year old ambitious, happy and overly lovable furry friend who is the owner of an unfortunately long tongue.

Morphie grew up just like any average pug. Chasing his tail around the house, getting up to mischief wherever possible and sleeping in the middle of the bed hogging all the blankets while mummy and daddy struggled to sleep. He has always been fit and healthy, with an undying love for food (a little too much) and cuddles. As Morphie grew during his puppy years, his tongue exceeded it's natural length and continued to develop. With check ups to the vet and numerous questions and concerns, we could never be put forward to a specialist who could assist with his unique and peculiar issue. As happy as Morphie is (and determined to stuff his face at any given chance) the length of his tongue has impacted on his ability to eat and drink to his full potential. Most recently, his tongue would measure between 10-15cm long OUTSIDE of his mouth (approximately). This type of length makes it very difficult to gain mobility and function of its intended use - making his life a lot harder than it should be. Not to mention not being able to walk him down the street without hearing snide remarks or questions in regards to his tongue - even though he is loving and welcoming to anyone passing by.

Just recently, we had a break through and were put in contact with a specialist located in South East Melbourne who can help assist with tongue reduction surgery. It is a pretty straight forward process - consisting of shortening his tongue to a reasonable length which will allow him a safe and fulfilling life with no restraints. This operation can cost a minimum $2500. Unfortunately, my partner is currently unable to work to his full capacity due to a medical injury himself and my full time wage alone is a struggle, as determined as we are to find the resources for Morphie's operation.
