Morgan Kelly's Battle Against Behcet's

Morgan is our amazing 11 year old daughter. She is bright, talented & loving. She dreams of the day she can return to "normal" life. She has a very rare auto immune vasculitic disease called Behcet's. She has been batteling this disease for the last 3 years. It has been getting progressively worse. This year it has been out of control & very difficult to manage. Unfortuntely this disease has no cure. Last year she spent 5 months in the hospital & had to travel accross the country for treatment of an overlaying disease caused by the Behcet's. This year she has been hospitalized at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford since January & has had many complications, including a week in the PICU. She still has a very long road until she will be able to return home. The doctors still have no idea how long she will remain in the hospital.
As many of you know our family lives over 200 miles from the hospital. I have had to take a personal leave of absence from my job as a Registered Nurse to be at her bedside & her Dad drives to visit on weekends as he can with her brother. The hospital does not offer vouchers or discounts to the families that have been at the hospital for a long time for food & the food is very expensive. The medical bills, food, lodging, & gas bills are mounting. When Morgan is well enough to leave the hospital she will require additional treatments, care at home & trips to the hospital for infusion treatments at least once a month. Morgan is going to require extensive therapy due to severe deconditioning & effects of medication. I will need to remain off work to care for her until she is stable enough to be cared for by family memebers or return to a modified school day.
I know these are difficult times for many of you, but numerous friends & family have ask how they can help & what they can do. This is the most difficult thing I have ever done, but this is the only answer I have for you all. No amount is to small & every penny counts.
We want to thank each & every one of you in advance for your generosity. This has been a life altering experince & we feel so blessed by the outpouring of support we have received from each & every one of you.
