More Than a Mumma - It's time!

It's been two years's since I started my business More Than a Mumma and it has touched over 150 Newcastle and Hunter Region Mumma's all at various stages of their motherhood journey. My committment two years ago was to strengthening the mental health and overall wellbeing of Mums by increasing their opportunities for connection. I have run numerous workshops and created so many opportunties for Mummas to meet each other and learn ways to grow and nurture themselves.
Now I am lucky enough that I have another passion, and that is Makeup and I also run a small business as a Makeup Artist called London Rose Beauty Services as I love making people feel good... I love seeing women look in the mirror and sit up a bit taller with their head held high when they feel better about themselves.
You could say that my life's mission is to basically make people feel better about themselves..... be it because they have lost themselves during motherhood OR that they don't feel confident in how they feel about their apperance.
In the past few months I have created a big vision of combining both businesses together to create a hub where I can run More Than a Mumma and London Rose Beauty Services.
And by "Hub" I mean a centre, where Mumma's can come and attend workshops that I run to connect with each other and also connect with local services to help them with whatever stage in life they are at. Creative workshops, yoga, book club, dancing, singing, meditation, wellbeing, self help and of course Makeup!..... anything that a Mumma needs. I want to provide workshops for it!
I want to be of service young Mumma's, Mumma's with grown up children, New Mumma's, LBGTQIA Mummas Single Mumma's, Mumma's with disabilities! Just all the Mummas really! We’re all in this together!
I want the Hub to consistantly showcase local businesses run by Mummas as I know how hard it is to run a successful business and I would love to provide a platform for Mummas to shine bright with their talents!
I also would love the space to have a fit out for a hair and makeup studio so I can offer feel good packages for Mums, but also capatilise on the space to do makeup classes or any other beauty opportunity that I may think of to create additional revenue!
My ultimate "golden egg" vision is that as well as the above descibed activities it can be a drop in centre that is open 7 days a week where Mumma's can come for a cuppa and a cake, bring their babies/toddler/or come alone.... just for those times when life gets really hard and they need to leave the house but shopping centres are too overwhelming and they may feel like they are isolated and just need someone to listen and be there. I would invite councellors, baby nurses, community organisations to attend on rotation every week so Mumma's knew what days' they could come and get a bit more support.
Of course this is a huge huge dream as this would involve some serious fundraising to enable me to be available to work there full time and employ someone to work with me.
So I have decided to seek financial support from my community and lay it all out on the line to tell you what my dreams are! I want to use this Crowd Funding Platform to take a big shot on something that really has my heart beating a million miles an hour.
I have already received great community support in the past and that has helped me get the confidence to really put it out there and ask for help!
If this doesn't work...... that is ok too..... there will be no sense of failure.
I will be proud that I jumped into the arena and made myself fully visible and vulnerable and if now is not the time then thats ok too!
Here is a breakdown of my goal targets and what they will be used for.
Goal 1 - $3500 - Not so scary goal.
To buy materials so that I can make handmade items to sell online or at market so I can continue my fundraising efforts to try and acheieve my goals! I have been teaching myself alot of new crafts over the past few months to help me develop skills that I can use to generate more income for my dreams. (beeswax wraps and Macrame to name a few) I can hear my facebook friends giggling reading that as they can see how obsessed I've become with my creativity.
Goal 2 - $25,000 - Moderatley terrifying goal.
To lease and fit out a space that is in a good location and accessible for prams/wheelchairs to run workshops and makeup/hairstyling sessions. Enough start up funds to establish the space and get it kick started so that after 12 months it is established enough to generate enough income. I will display my hand made items for sale also.
Goal 3 - $75,000 Ahhhhh Terrifying! (Breathe Breathe Breathe)
To lease and fit out a space that is in a good location and accessible for prams/wheelchairs to run Mumma workshops and makeup/hairstyling sessions. Enough start up funds to establish the space and get it kick started so that after 12 months it is established enough to generate enough income. - Plus have enough income to work there myself and/or employ someone to work with me part time so that it can be a drop in centre that is open 7 days a week where Mumma's can come for a cuppa and a cake, bring their babies/toddler/or come alone.... just for those times when life gets really hard and they need to leave the house but shopping centres are too overwhelming and they may feel like they are isolated and just need someone to listen and be there. I know goal 3 is wayyy out there! but if don't put my goals and dreams out there in the universe then there will never ever be a chance of getting a taste of it!
I am also very willing and open to suggestions and feedback on anything that may help me bring my dreams to a reality, I am willing to work hard and bring whatever it takes to make this happen for Newcastle Mummas!
If anyone know's of a fantastic ground floor or lift accessible property to rent? or a business who would like to provide the coffee and cake? any suggestions of any kind for community partnerships would be considered to make this happen!
