More Pointers in Need

We've got 4 new Pointers in our program-- Michelle, Disney, Pete and Baby Ruth. All were pulled from certain death in over- crowded shelters in Illinois and Tennessee. Michelle was so scary thin but is thriving in her new Foster to Adopt home. She is being treated for Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Disney came in from an overcrowded shelter in Southern Illinois. She was an owner surrender and about 7-8 months old. She is a complete joy and is going to make a wonderful family pet and companion.

In June I was told about an orange and white male Pointer that was going to be put to sleep in an overcrowded shelter in western Illinois. Pete, sadly, came in with heartworms and also with Rocky Mountain spotted fever. He was a little ornery but now he gets along great with all the dogs and he loves to play. A heartworm diagnosis can cost $1,000 or more with blood work and supplies-- but so far he is doing well with treatment.

Baby Ruth is a sweet Pointer puppy that needed to be pulled from an overcrowded shelter in Tennessee. We were lucky to line up a foster and get a volunteer Pilot to fly her and another sweet beagle/bassett mix in just a few days. Ruthie was another Pointer with a tatoo in her ear from a local breeder that dumps his dogs when they don't sell. She is a complete joy and we are hopeful she finds the best home. She'll be needing blood work to look for any hiding tick borne disease prior to being spayed.
