Montpelier H.S. Baseball Goes to Dodgertown!

Dear Friends, Families & Supporters of Montpelier H.S. Baseball,

Top-notch baseball instruction, team-building, and camaraderie at the Historic Dodgertown?!  That's the goal!!

To understand why this fundraiser effort is so important is to understand where this group of players were several years ago.  They had just won the   2015 Little League Vermont District 4 championship and all were headed to middle school later that summer while looking forward to the spring; however, there was one big problem--baseball     had been cut out of the middle school budget.  Instead of choosing to play a different sport, or no sport at all,  the players, parents, and the entire community rallied together and raised the funds to support the season.  One successful season turned into what we enjoy today which is baseball at the middle school readying them for high school level competition!

Some of these players who raised that Little League championship banner back in 2015 have their sights set on something just a little bit bigger--a high school state championship.  Now, it's been quite a while since Montpelier High School has won a championship--over 50 years in fact.  The year was 1967  when the Solons went up against the  reigning state champs--the Seahorses of Burlington.  Pitching for the Solons was Bob Danahar who threw almost   200 pitches in 100-degree heat. He held the Burlington Seahorses to four hits and pitched a full nine innings.  The Solons won 4-0 and the rest is history.

Fast forward to today, these passionate young men have set their sights on improving themselves, and their team,  through a week's long camp where they will have the incredible opportunity to work on both individual and team skills in a super-constructive and fun team-building environment. Winter weather in Vermont may slightly delay      "taking the field" but the inviting, warm weather of Florida will allow this team to improve while fostering camaraderie as they pursue another winning season, and who knows, maybe even a championship run of their own.

Ultimately, we would like to send at least 16 players and 2 of our coaches to Historic Dodgertown (http://historicdodgertown.com/).  Your thoughtful and kind donation will go towards the cost of the camp itself plus airfare to and from Florida.

Thank you very much for consideration and Go SOLONS!

With gratitude,
MHS Solons - Players, Coaches and Families
