I have created two Record Companies, Green Farm Records and Montego Records.
I have produced, written, composed, performed and assisted others in the creation of a vast amount of Reggae Music, since 1990.
The United Nations (UNESCO) added Reggae Music to its list of cultural treasures just recently in October of 2018, citing it as “music of love and harmony”.
Reggae Music emerged in the late 1960’s out of Jamaica’s ska and rocksteady styles, also drawing influence from American jazz and blues.
“Reggae music in its embryonic state was the voice of the marginalized …contributing to international discourse on issues of injustice, resistance, love , and humanity… and underscores the dynamism of the element as being at once cerebral, socio-political, sensual, and spiritual”. The basic social functions of the music as a vehicle for social commentary, a cathartic practice, and a means of praising God, have not changed and the music continues to act as a voice for all.”
This honor by UNESCO has inspired me to try to raise funds to help me:
Complete many of my prior and new Reggae compositions, which I have been unable to voice, mix, and master due to lack of adequate funding; and then to share my wealth of original Reggae music with the world.
After meeting costs and having enough capital to live comfortably without impoverishment, I would hope to use the majority of profits from publishing these works to help others in need and to build a school for underprivileged Jamaican children in Kingston 13, Jamaica: the area where I grew up with seven siblings on a Gullibank with my beloved Mother who cooked on the street to nourish us, and my very special grandmother who inspired me to become a Rastafarian.
I will need to raise: $35,000 to $50,000 to set up an appropriate structure to achieve this goal.
Even the smallest gifts of $25 or $50 will be greatly appreciated and will multiply little by little to help me achieve this goal.
Gifts of $50 or more will receive a "Walk in the Light" Button.
Gifts of $1000 or more will receive an exclusive invitation to a live performance in Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as a tee shirt and a disc signed by me. For those who cannot make the live performance, there will be a webcast option.
