Montana, 23.5 week micropreemie

Donation protected
Montana Skye, my granddaughter, graced us with her presence super early, at only 23.5 weeks gestation, unexpectedly. She was born via emergency C-section, weighing 1 lb, 2 oz and is only 11.5 inches long. Doctors gave her a 60/40 chance of survival. She was born beating those odds!

The morning following her birth, she took a turn for the worst when her oxygen levels dropped to only a 40, when they needed to be at least 90. The doctors were suddenly giving her only a 1-2 % chance of survival. With God by our side and with His hands cradling Montana, her levels climbed up to 91 and she stabilized. Doctors said that her levels had dropped because she had been kicking and screaming so much. In fact, every time a doctor or nurse would come in to check on her, she would slap their hands away. She exhausted all of her energy and her oxygen levels were greatly affected by it.

Fast forward three days, she is doing remarkable! Her breathing tube was removed today and she's on a CPAP. She is gaining more strength with each passing moment. She is a fighter! It is difficult to say, for sure, how long she will remain in the NICU, but nurses have said that she will likely remain until at least her due date, April, but worst case scenario is a year. This brings us to the topic of our request.....

First and foremost, we humbly request that you pray for lil Miss Montana -- that she continues to gain strength, become healthier, and thrive with each passing moment. We ask that you pray for protection for her parents, Chris and Laura, as they make the 1.5 hour round trip to the hospital each day. Pray for peace that they rest well, each night, as they think of Montana and anticipate their visit with her the next day. Pray for Montana's big brother, Colton, as he goes to school each day, that God helps him to focus on the lessons set before him. Pray for him as he anticipates the day he gets to finally meet, touch, and hold his baby sister.

Last but not least, we humbly ask for your help. As mentioned before, Chris and Laura live 45 minutes from the hospital where Montana is at. Colton is in school and the hospital doesn't have the facilities for Laura to stay there. So, Montana's early arrival has brought along some very unexpected and unforseen expenses. Multiple trips to the hospital each week; along with extra food, gas, and medical expenses is going to put a lot of extra stress on this sweet family --- much more stress added to the stress I'm sure that they are already experiencing.

If you could help support them in any way, prayerfully and/or financially, I know they would deeply appreciate it!

Thank you and may God bless you!
