<div>Hello everyone,
</div>
<div>My name is Sebastiano d’Ayala Valva, and I am a documentary filmmaker. For several years, I have been working on a film about one of the great forgotten figures in fashion history: Antoni Cierplikowski, a true pioneer of modern hairstyling.
</div>
<div>The film is now almost complete. I am seeking to raise €10000 to finish the final shoot—just one last scene is needed to bring this project to completion.

<div>The starting point
</div>
<div>A few years ago, I came across a remarkable article from 1992. In Paris, they had just buried… the right hand of the famous Antoine.
</div>
<div>The ceremony had been organized by his former pupil, Monsieur Alexandre—known worldwide as Alexandre de Paris—who wished to repatriate this relic of his master. Antoine had died sixteen years earlier in his native Poland.
</div>
<div>This strange tribute immediately intrigued me. Who was this man—important enough to inspire such a gesture, yet almost entirely absent from our collective memory?
</div>

<div>A forgotten pioneer
</div>
<div>What I discovered was a fascinating figure, nearly erased from history.
</div>
<div>Born in Poland, Monsieur Antoine, whose real name was Antoni Cierplikowski, was a visionary hairdresser who radically transformed the image of women in the early 20th century.
</div>
<div>In the 1920s, by inventing the garçonne cut—also known as the bob—he helped redefine femininity and actively contributed to women’s emancipation, challenging a rigid, gender-binary society in which roles were strictly defined, always to the advantage of men.
</div>
<div>Hairdresser to the greatest icons of his time—Sarah Bernhardt, Josephine Baker, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, and many others—Antoine was one of the fathers of modern hairdressing, an industry now worth billions.
</div>

<div>And yet, his name has almost disappeared from our collective memory.
</div>

</div>
<div>A long-term investigation
</div>
<div>For several years, I have been traveling, researching archives, and meeting the last people who knew him. Many are no longer with us today.
</div>
<div>Gradually, a portrait emerges of a flamboyant and elusive character who never stopped staging his own life—one that often surpassed fiction.
</div>
<div>In particular, I discovered that Antoine founded one of the first large gay communities on Fire Island, in the United States—an essential part of his story that he deliberately erased.
</div>

<div>What is missing today
</div>
<div>Only one final sequence remains to be filmed — a more fictional one — performed by a male actor who has created a female stage persona inspired by the divas of the 1920s and 1930s, all of whom were clients of Antoine.
</div>
<div>He is a mask specialist. His presence allows us to explore what is hidden, what transforms, and what is revealed in a person’s life.
</div>
<div>He is the ideal person to embody Antoine, who spent his life shaping the image of others — and his own.
</div>
<div>Without this final shoot, the film will remain unfinished. And this is where I need you.
</div>

<div>What will the €10000 be used for?
</div>
<div>The budget will cover two days of filming at the Museo delle Cere in Rome, including:

<div>A film that defies categorisation
</div>
<div>With the exception of BIPTV, television channels remain cautious about a character who is both unclassifiable and little known. Hairdressing: art or craft? Too often, it fits into no established “box.”

<div>And yet, it is precisely Antoine’s power and singularity that will carry this film.

<div>Je m’appelle Sebastiano d’Ayala Valva et je réalise des films documentaires. Depuis plusieurs années, je travaille sur un film consacré à l’un des grands oubliés de l’histoire de la mode : le pionnier de la coiffure Antoni Cierplikowski.

</div>
<div>Il y a quelques années, je suis tombé sur un article étonnant datant de 1992 : à Paris, on venait d’enterrer… la main droite du célèbre Antoine.
</div>
<div>La cérémonie avait été organisée par son élève, Monsieur Alexandre, lui-même grand coiffeur, mondialement connu sous le nom d’Alexandre de Paris, qui souhaitait rapatrier cette relique de son maître, mort seize ans plus tôt dans sa Pologne natale.
</div>
<div>Cet hommage singulier m’a poussé à enquêter sur un homme dont je n’avais jamais entendu parler.

<div>Un pionnier oublié
</div>
<div>J’ai découvert une figure fascinante, presque effacée de l’Histoire : le Polonais Monsieur Antoine, de son vrai nom Antoni Cierplikowski.
</div>
<div>Coiffeur visionnaire, il a révolutionné l’image des femmes et participé activement à l’émancipation féminine dans les années 1920. En inventant la coupe à la garçonne, il a défié une société fondée sur la binarité des genres, où hommes et femmes avaient des rôles distincts, toujours à l’avantage des premiers.

<div>Depuis plusieurs années, je voyage, fouille les archives et rencontre les dernières personnes l’ayant connu. Beaucoup ne sont plus là aujourd’hui.

<div>Peu à peu, se dessine le portrait d’un personnage flamboyant et insaisissable, qui n’a cessé de se mettre en scène et dont la vie dépasse la fiction.
</div>
<div>J’ai notamment découvert qu’Antoine avait fondé l’une des premières grandes communautés gay à Fire Island, aux États-Unis — un pan essentiel de son histoire qu’il a consciemment effacé.

<div>Ce qu’il manque aujourd’hui
</div>
<div>Il ne reste qu’une dernière séquence à tourner, plus fictionnelle, interprété par un comédien homme qui a crée un personnage de scène féminin, inspiré des divas des années 1920 et 1930, toutes clientes d’Antoine.
</div>
<div>Il s'agit d'un spécialiste des masques. Sa présence permet d’explorer ce qui se cache, ce qui se transforme et ce qui se révèle dans la vie d’une personne.
</div>
<div>C’est la personne idéale pour incarner Antoine, qui a passé sa vie à façonner l’image des autres — et la sienne.
</div>
<div>Sans ce dernier tournage, le film restera inachevé. Et c’est là que j’ai besoin de vous.
