If you know anything about me, you know how much I care about my best friend in this world, Monique Terry. This GoFundMe is for her as she hugely effected by Hurricane Michael's catastrophic destruction.
Two weeks ago, Monique moved to Panama City with her boss in hopes to relocate the business they’d started together.
At 3am on Wednesday, minutes after Hurricane Michael was upgraded to a category 4 storm headed directly to Panama City Beach, I finally convinced her to drive the 5 hours to my apartment in Atlanta “just in case”. Later on that day, she would learn that Hurricane Michael completely destroyed at least 80% of her belongings along with the office building where they had slowly began taking new clients.
After assessing the likelihood of the business’s success following such an unprecedented event and other personal considerations as well as the advice of her business partner, she has decided to stay in Atlanta and completely start over personally, professionally and financially.
This GoFundMe is a SECRET fundraiser I have created to help her with that. Most of her savings was spent on moving cross-country and other unforeseen business expenses in the past year. Some of you may be complete strangers to her but if you want to donate directly to hurricane relief then here is your chance! Anything helps! Anything at all. And I can personally vouch for how every cent is being spent.
The money will mainly go toward: a uHaul to bring her remaining possessions to Atlanta, a storage unit to hold them while she finds a new job and apartment, the percentage of rent she insists on paying me to stay at my place (eye roll), general daily expenses like food and groceries, and replenishing other lost items like clothing, bedding, and hygiene products. Any and all left over money will be donated to a Hurricane relief fund of her choosing.
