Hey Everyone! First, I would like to thank you for listening to my friend’s story, and for considering helping her raise the funds she needs to attend graduate school. She has worked hard and put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears to get to her dream school California State University Northridge (CSUN) to pursue her dream to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. I hope you all will consider helping us help her raise the funds she needs for her education.
I remember the day Monique got into CSUN, she was both ecstatic, happy, proud, and could not wait to start. She is the first person in her family not only to attend college but to also attend graduate school. She was telling me how excited she was and knew how much this would mean for her parents who sacrificed so much for her to get through college and to pursue her dreams. We talked and talked about how going to CSUN is another door she is opening that will lead to greater opportunities. Talking about how this will give her the chance to access better jobs, better connections, and to be given the amazing chance to build a successful life to take care of the people who sacrificed so much for her, her parents. Just hearing her speak about school makes you feel so inspired by the fire and the drive she has to work hard to achieve her dreams.
But then things started to change and the dream disappeared as quickly as it came. When She received the financial aid package, She noticed immediately something was wrong. She was not granted any financial aid to go to school and at this moment her mom does not have any ability to contribute. Unless we are able to help Monique raise this money for school she will not be able to attend CSUN. But if we can do this for her, I know she will be able to get scholarship money and earn on her own to continue on in grad school.
My Best Friend Monique is resilient, the amount of times in the past two months that she has been put through difficult life situations alone will make some people want to give up. Through it all she has still tried to comfort others, listen to their problems, and help where she can. I for a fact know when she gets into CSUN with our help she will take that school by storm. Monique is a beacon of joy who enjoys helping others, standing up for what's right, and just being there when you need her. She has served plenty of communities at her other school, UC Davis, (which she excelled at by the way) to become a staple of that community that everyone loved. This is why I believe she will work very hard and excel in the Marriage and Family Therapist program at CSUN.
