Mongoose Make Album no. 2

Hello Mongoslings,

We have made this page in the hope that you will help us raise the funds we need to make our second album over the summer this year. The figure €7000 is the money it will cost for one week of pre-production, ten days of studio recording, mixing and mastering of tracks, and fees for our producer-engineer-wizard Alex Borwick.

If you are reading this then you have already shown yourselves to be goodly philanthropists, and for this we commend you! Time and time again we are shown that our supporters are of particularly generous stock.

It is ‘difficult second album time’ for us crazy kids, although truth be told, the only real difficulty is the one that has us here on this platform in the first place - the music is most certainly there, the will is there, the time and space to create is there.

We spent 2017 writing and experimenting in our basement space at the Chocolate Factory, and at the Lexicon Library, where we had the privilege of being DLR Musicians in Residence. We recorded and released our EP 'Four' (listen here ) which is a flavour of the sounds and textures we’ve been playing with all last year. But we have so much more music that resulted from that period of creativity, play and hard work. And we want you, our wonderful friends and fans, to hear it.

We have grown a whole lot since we recorded our first album - personally and musically - and our music now is something we have a firm grasp on. We want to make something altogether more ambitious than our first album, something rich and provocative, which encapsulates the story of our middle-20 years, in all their rollicking turbulence.

It is difficult, as anyone who’s ever tried knows, to keep on making art. Money is always in too short supply. Making an album is a particularly expensive undertaking, and to make it something truly special we need your big-hearted generosity and help.

If you were able to make a contribution towards making this nebulous thing into tangible, solid treats for ears and hearts, we would be so very grateful - look at it as buying the album in advance if that configures for you, a downpayment for goods redeemable when completed and perfected.

For €10 you will receive a digital copy of the album

For €15 you will receive a signed hard copy of the album as well as the digital download

For €30 or over you will receive a signed copy of the album as well as a ticket to the launch gig in 2019.

We have big ideas for this album friends, we just need the capital to make it happen. We’ll all reap the rewards in the end we hope.
