Hello everyone,
My name is Rodrigo Prugue and I, along with Ted Kernan and Chris St. Cyr, will be participating in the 2014 Mongol Rally as team Spontaneous Khanbustion. The rally is a drive from London to Ulaanbaatar that takes place in July. We will be departing London on July 20th and the finish line is in Mongolia. Our route is through the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, back into Kazakhstan, Russia, and finally Mongolia. To make things more interesting, we are required to purchase a vehicle that costs less than $1000 and has an engine smaller than 1 liter!
However, this race isn't just for fun and games. We are also partnering with two charities. The organization that runs the event picks one that all teams are required to raise money for. The charity they selected is called Cool Earth. Cool Earth is an organization that helps indigenous tribes in South America (and recently Africa) reduce rainforest destruction (http://www.coolearth.org/). As for the second charity, we all thought it was appropriate to select the Make A Wish foundation as our second charity since we are living our dreams through this trip and want to give the opportunity to others who may not be as fortunate (http://wish.org/).
