Lorayne McGovern medical bills help

My beautiful friend Lorayne McGovern has been dianosed with cancer. She was responding well to chemo when new drugs were introduced that caused her to be afflicted with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome , a rare and painful disease that put her into hospice care. She is recovering, but a new challenge faces her. 

Lorayne has been an independent graphic artist for her entire career. She is talented and generous. What she isn't is rich. She has medical insurance, paid taxes and owns a modest home, but this medical situation is going to destroy her finances. Medicaid - if is accepts her -- will only pay $753/month which is less that her mortgage. She stands to lose her house and what small amount of retirement funds she has been able to accumulate. 

Insurance is only going to pay 50% of expenses. The total for her hospital stay for the Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is one set of bills. She still has to contend with the cancer treatments and mounting doctor bills...and she can't work at the moment. 

Lorayne is single and doesn't have a support system to assist her financially. When she leaves the hospital it is recommended she goes to rehab for a couple of weeks in order to go home. If she continues with hospice, she can't pursue any treatment for the cancer which she was succesfully fighting until the change in the meds. 

I don't know what the exact cost of her hospital bills are, but I know they are going to be more than she has. I will follow up with more specific information as I get it. 

This is a frightening and devastating situation. In one day, her world completely changed. Her oncologist describer her melanoma as "exploding." But the treatment was working and Lorayne was going back to work.
