Let's raise money for 1st B&D Scouts

Do you want to do something really AWESOME? Then let’s raise money for our local Scout group, my goal is to raise a £500 so they can buy a second hand trailer for they needs. Please help us by donating whatever you can – every penny helps! The 1st Barking & Dagenham scout group are in desperate need of a medium size trailer to enable them take all of their required camping equipment with them on their many camping trips and their numerous other activities throughout the year. Until recently, they have been borrowing one from a very kind parent, but the family have now moved out of the area and away from the scout group. My daughter is a Beaver Scout at 1st Barking & Dagenham. She is 8 years old, attends every week and every single activity, she really, really enjoys being Scout member, and I, as a very proud father, am extremely happy to see what a huge influence this has made to her confidence and independence. Unfortunately, many people do not know, that the whole of the Scouts movement is financed by donations, all of the leaders and helpers are volunteers who dedicate their own time to our children freely, and without any reimbursement. Instead of spending time relaxing with their own families, they spend their precious time with our children teaching them all sorts of skills. From teaching the very young members how to lace their shoes to how to survive in nature without everyday tools. This helps young people develop the values, self-belief and belief in others, which will help them become confident, active citizens. The Scout group offers a place and a team to belong to, character building and skills to succeed in their future careers. The Scouts are a very valuable part of our local community, they can often be seen helping to look after our communal areas by collecting street litter, planting plants at the local community gardens.
