Help bring some Florida sunshine to a wonderful wife and mother battling brain cancer.

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this campaign. Our wonderful and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend of many people was forced to end her vacation last year after just one day. She had to be taken to the ER after having many scary symptoms. She was put through some tests and received v ery bad news. There was a mass growing on her brain that was later revealed to be a very rare form of malignant brain cancer. She was hospitalized at the University of Maryland Medical Center for some time and was informed that she would need surgery that had a very high risk of her losing her mobility and sight. In typical Brenda fashion, she was in better spirits then everyone else around her. She  didn’t hesitate and went through with the surgery and was rewarded with a much better outcome than expected. She lost no mobility and only partial eye sight in one eye. This was a huge sigh of relief for everyone, but we knew it wasn't over.  So she went on to her next battle, still in great spirits and started with radiation therapy.

After finishing radiation, it was time for the mri to see if it had helped in anyway. To everyone’s disappointment, we received the news that this very aggressive cancer was already growing back and she would have to have the same surgery all over again. She went through the surgery again with the same outcome and started radiation once more . A few weeks later, after another visit to the ER, we were worried that the tumors may be growing again. Luckily, this time we found out that it wasn’t  growing  rapidly like before and the piece that remains is the same size as it was after the second surgery. She will eventually  need more radiation and the cancer could even start to grow again in the future.

We are asking for anyone who is able to help us to send her on her way off to a two week,  sunny, Florida vacation. We would love to see her enjoy the vacation her and her husband worked hard to get to last time; which was cut short with the devastating news I am writing about here. Things have become very difficult financially to afford this kind of vacation since Brenda has lost her ability to work and the medical bills continue to pile up. She was the most hard working and dedicated employee someone could ask for. Brenda worked as a dental assistant for over 20 years with one doctor and after he retired, worked for another wonderful doctor until her illness surfaced near the end of 2014.  That is close to 30 years working for only 2 employers that both adored her and still check on her often. Brenda is still loved by all of the wonderful people from her office who  every week bring her gifts, food or whatever else so that they can get a reason to come by to see her for ha-ha. She is just that wonderful of a person!

Brenda and her husband have sustained an incredibly strong relationship for over 40 years, a relationship you only see in the movies. I cannot once think of a time I’ve heard either one of them call each other one bad name or argue about anything at all. She is the most meek and loving person and so many others will agree, we all have ever known. We would love for them to be able to enjoy an unforgettable vacation and spend some quality time together that they so much deserve. Any help we can get from anyone that is able and willing, we appreciate it so very much and will all be forever grateful to you.

Thank you all so very much for taking your time to read this and I know she will be without words knowing that people care about her so much, friends and strangers alike. There are so many people with big hearts and that’s why we are reaching out to you all, because they both deserve it so much. They have both done so much in their lives for so many people, family and friends alike and we all want them to get something back that they personally would never ask for themselves. Again, thank you so much for reading.

With eternal gratefulness,

Brenda Patterson’s family and friends.
