Mom's Rally Against Cancer

Earlier this year my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. The doctor forecasted her chances at about 20% if she did chemo, best-case scenario. We decided as a family that we wouldn’t pursue traditional treatment. Instead, we found a doctor in Reno, Nevada that combines Western medicine (low-dose chemotherapy) with natural medicine (supplements, vitamins, immune boosters, etc.).



We went in for a consultation and left feeling hopeful and EXCITED. The team of doctors each took over an hour with us to explain their process. They drew diagrams of cells on the exam table paper, gave us metaphors to understand the science, and were perfectly happy to answer my 349,834 questions. They made us feel comfortable and confident.

We will be staying in Reno for three weeks during the first leg of treatment. There are two more legs afterwards and the doctor says his goal is to have my mom in remission by September. And it looks promising – he has treated approximately 1,000 Stage 4 patients and 720 of them have gone into remission. 72% success rate!

My mom and I have both taken off work and we estimate the full cost of treatment at approximately 75k (maybe less if insurance is cooperative). Since this is such a promising path, we are going to find a way to make the money work. One of the ways we came up with was to reach out to all of you with a GoFundMe account because every penny helps right now. We know with such an amazing support system that everyone will want to help out in some way shape or form, and this is the best way. However, to be very clear: we definitely don't expect anything from anyone.

2. Precooked/freezable meals. We will be spending a lot of time in the doctor’s office, other people’s houses, commuting back and forth to Reno, and of course feeling under the weather. One less thing to think about.

We started treatment Monday – so far so good! My mom will be resting quite a bit through the month of June. If you’d like more info, I’m the best source of information.
