Mom's Cancer Expense Fund

Donation protected
On July 23 a routine mammogram found a suspicious mass in my mom's right breast. After having a follow-up ultrasound and biopsy done on that breast, it was determined that there was indeed cancer in the breast. It was called invasive ductal carcinoma, and there appeared to be two spots. Mom met with a surgeon and it was determined the best course of action was to remove the entire right breast and do a sentinel node biopsy at the same time. My mom insisted on a MRI, and after that was completed, it was found that was cancer in the left breast as well. So now, this turned into a bi-lateral mastectomy (both breasts) with sentinel node biopsy on each side.

Surgery was performed Tuesday, Aug. 22 and mom is home recovering from that. She meets with her surgeon next Wed., and from there will be referred to an onocologist for further treatment.

The bills have already started to pile up and there is no end in sight.

Mom has private insurance with a very high deductible and will have a huge amount of out-of-pocket expenses. I'm hoping that starting this page will help mom and dad with the expenses that are to come.

Thank you so much!
