My hope for this fundraiser was that I could raise the money it took for me to finish my degree while giving something back. Originally, I put together a deal that made it so anyone who donated were entered to win gift cards, books, or even an ipad mini. Unfortunately, that breaks the terms and conditions of gofundme so the that is officially out (I do still have hope for tumblr though!). However, the failing of that quest allowed me to come across something more important than gift cards and ipad minis. A very lovely lady and OU outdoor rec alum, Lisa Galusha is part of an annual campaign with YMCA Camp Erdman, that raises money for children and families to attend camp whom normally do not have the financial resources to go. Recently her campaign came across my newsfeed and it just seems to make perfect sense. So, instead of giving back with prizes, 10% of all donations I receive, regardless of if i make my goal, will be donated to the Lisa Galusha’s personal goal in the Camp Erdman 2015 Annual Support Campaign.

As for me, I currently have one year, including an internship, left before I graduate with a BS in Outdoor Recreation with a focus in Diversity Studies and can move on to the exciting “broker than a college student” post-grad stage of my life. Yay! After I finish my degree, I hope to work my way into the wilderness therapy industry. My issue is that in 2013 my financial aid didn’t cover around ~$7,000. I had to take a year off to save and befor I knew it, one year turned into two. Because my student loan repayments from my first three years have kicked in, I'm barely making enough to even make a dent in what I owe just to get back into school. As soon as I pay this balance, my student loans will kick back in to cover my last year of school. One of the more mortifying moments of my life was getting denied a loan at the bank but when I sighed when the woman who had been assisting me with my application had suggested using gofundme to help me out of my situation she said, "You may think it's weak to ask for help, but I hear it doesn't always hurt and in some cases it makes you wise." So, I've decided to take her advice.

When the total is so great, it really goes without saying that any amount helps and I appreciate any and all donations made to not only get me back into school but also send kids to Camp Erdman. Thank you so much!
