Mom's Pre-Surgery Vacation

Donation protected
For anyone who knows our mother (Mrs. Woody, Momma Woody, Sharon, etc) just to name a few, knows just how valuable she really is. When we think of our mother, our bestfriend, we view her as an extraoridnary human being. A true blessing. A saint. An absolute angel sent from the heavens! We have never met someone with so much tenacity and courage to get through some of the darkest shadows that oftentimes creep throughout life, as much as this woman has done and continues to do. Our mother is an unrelenting hero. Our very own Superwoman/mom. She never fails to save the day. Her heroic gestures give acclaim to her most treasured and sought after characteristics: selflessness!I have never witnessed a woman so inamured in generosity.

I tell you all of this, just to give you a snapshot of what kind of footprint/impact this woman, our mother, has left in this life so far.

Recently, my mother was diagnosed with having a meningioma. In other words, a specific type of brain tumor that arises from the meninges-the membranes that surround your brain and spinal cord (MayoClinic). Fortunately, and by the grace of God, the tumor is benign (noncancerous). Yet this does not still pose a significant risk. Having had recieved mulitple opinions, by multiple doctors, the tumor has experienced serious growth. The only option to rid her of the tumor is through surgery. Again stakes run high especially when going forward with this neccessary plan of action and involves thinking about and preparing for the "what-ifs", rather than dismissing them all together.

The last thing I want is my mom not getting the chance to capture one of her dream vacations to the Florida Keys. For the longest time, my mom has talked to both me and my sister on how much she desires to go this remote destination where she can swim with the dolphins! For a woman who sacrifices so much, it's only fitting she be given something in return.

I long to see my mom caught up in utter happiness, a state of being she has comprimised for the sake of others. I cannot bare the mere thought of her not being able to live out this dream before surgery. Although, we are all faithful and channel my moms soldier like attitude for dealing with her situation, we still lack complete control. For that rests in the hands of the big man upstairs!

This brings us to the root of our request. Our greatest stress in capturing and carrying out this vision is finances. With both of us working part-time jobs as well as going to college full-time, funds are always coming up short. The little amount we have contributed ourselves to this cause ,leaves us in a bind. That being said, we call upon each and everyone of you for your support. Family, friends, neighbors, strangers, to help honor my mothers dream of going to the Keys. As of now, surgery is set to take place sometime in January. Since winter break is rapidly approaching, this would serve as the optimal window for granting this wish. Vacation in the Keys would mean the world to not only me and my sister, but most importantly, my mother. Please help contribute towards reaching this goal with us. Any and all donations would be so graciously appreciated.

On behalf of our beautiful Mother, Sharon,

We Thank You.

Sincerely,

Evan and Halie Woody
