Mom's Cancer Treatment Fund

Mom was diagnosed last year with multiple myeloma.  It started with pain in her upper legs and then her lower back.  After seeking treatment for the pain, they discovered cancerous lesions and began standard cancer treatments.

She has been through chemo therapy and was just recently approved for stem cell treatment.  She was scheduled for 30 days of treatment but she is already improving well enough that the doctors may not continue for the full 30 days.

Mom's insurance benefits are limited and we have accumulated many expenses over the past 8 months of treatment.   Our biggest challenge now is that once she completes the stem cell treatment and is discharged, she is required to stay within 20 minutes of M. D. Anderson in Houston for up to 90 days.  However, she lives well over an hour away.   She is now looking for housing closer to the hospital.  The money we are attempting to raise will help her be able to stay within that 20-minute distance from the hospital and will pay for rent, food , travel and out of pocket medical expenses.  

Mom is doing well and we want her to be able to continue to improve.  Not having the stress of trying to figure out how to pay for necessary costs will allow her to focus on getting better.  She spent 23 years of her life taking care of my father, a two-time war veteran, who suffered pancreactic cancer and congestive heart failure.  Mom greatly deserves this chance to beat her cancer and enjoy the rest of her years reaping the benefits of being close to her family and enjoying her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren for many years to come.
