We are a small dedicated team that has been live streaming rally events for the past year.
Our coverage is traditionally funded through partners and sponsors and this enables us to deliver an entertaining and informative Livestream to rally fans around the world for free.
Through these partners we are able to cover expenses, innovate and invest in new technologies and constantly improve our livestreaming capabilities.
This is our ultimate goal! Free livestreaming of rally events in a way that has never been done before nor available in New Zealand at club and national level.
David vs Goliath
Due to unforeseen technicalities, rules and regulations we have been given the choice by NZRC to either stop the livestream coverage of Otago Rally 2019 or remove all of our sponsor logos or mentions from our coverage due to Rally New Zealand's (NZRC) commercial naming rights. None of these concerns have ever been expressed or raised until three days before the event and in our final stages of Otago preparation. This has delivered a devasting blow to our team. Our morale has been severely hit hard this time.
Because we are not permitted to display the sponsor logos on screen we now must give a full refund to our sponsors for their investment. After exploring all the options we were faced with no choice but accept this demand. No advertising or exposure for sponsors = no money for us.
Our dilemma - lose money and do no live streaming or lose money and still fulfill our promise to provide coverage.
There is already non-refundable expenses that have been paid for and these include flights, accommodation, equipment, equipment hire and a scouting trip to Otago to test our limitations and equipment and to check what we needed in preparation for when we go live.
With only one days notice and one day out before we go live our team has got together and decided we still want to pursue our coverage of the Otago Rally. We believe we can provide fantastic entertainment and information to the many people and fans that can't be there in person, and also offer equal coverage to every team in the rally - including those seeded further down who normally never receive video coverage . We hope that funds raised will help us recover some of the costs involved.
For us, our passions sit with technology, media, social media and putting together one heck of a show. When we combine all of our individual skills and talents we produce some amazing work.
The feedback from competitors, teams, friends, family and motorsport enthusiasts around the world is the ultimate reward! Without an audience we have no show.
How this money will be spent and put to good use;
2 nights accommodation for 8 people = $1000
1 x return flights from Auckland for our guest commentator = $400
3 x vehicles - fuel expenses (4000km total) = $1000
Radio equipment hire = $200
Data connection = $50
Specialised equipment for specific Livestreaming = $1000
Meals and food for crew x 3 days = $500
Administration = $100
And probably more I can't think of right now.
What is left over then gets allocated towards new technologies and a reward to the crew for their awesome efforts.
What do you get out of it?
We appreciate any support including just watching and viewing our livestream.
If you feel there is value in what we are providing for the sport, competitors, crews, friends and family. Your donation would be greatly appreciated.
Every little bit helps and every contribution helps our small dedicated team rise to the occasion and succeed.
With thanks, Ryan McDonald
