Molli

The Molli is the oldest formerly-squatted bar/social center in Amsterdam. In 2019, it turned 40 years old! It has been legalized for more than 2 decades and has been functioning as a safe space for people from different communities.

The bar is run by volunteers only. We cook vegan, host a squatting assistance hour, feminist and queer cafe's and in general, we strive to keep the place open as infrastructure for the revolution.

We have been closed since mid-March due to the pandemic and this has drained our finances completely. We were planning to renovate the kitchen with the little funds we had managed to put aside but everything had to be used to pay the bills. We are now at a point where we cannot pay the bills for June anymore.

The Dutch government has announced financial help for bars and restaurants but we cannot apply for it because we are registered at the ministry as an "ideological organization" and not a catering space/bar.

We started this crowdfunding campaign as a place where we can gather donations that will help us save the Molli and renovate the kitchen as planned.
