Marilyn Mohrhaus Memorial Fund

As many of you already know, our beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, Marilyn Mohrhaus, unexpectedly passed on August 13, 2018.  She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, her three children and their significant others, her precious grandson, and several cherished "grand-puppies".  Marilyn was known by not only her immediate family but also her extended family, friends and coworkers as a caring and generous soul.  She remembered every birthday, holiday, and special event and was sure to let you know she was thinking of you.  Her greatest loves in life were her family, her dogs (especially the "Golden Gang"), and her friends.

Over the last decade, Marilyn has stood, unwavering, by the side of her husband, Cliff, as he has traveled down one of the toughest roads one can travel - that of Alzheimer's Disease.  For years, she cared for Cliff's every need and their home, all while still working to support his ongoing medical care expenses.  She took him to his many medical appointments, addressed his daily needs, and was his rock as he struggled to accept his new reality.  Even after Cliff moved into a memory care facility, Marilyn visited Cliff almost daily at the home.  They spent many hours sitting on the porch chatting and enjoying planned activities.  On days when she couldn't make it in, she was calling to check on him and make sure all his needs were being addressed.  Their last evening together was spent at the home's date night where they smiled and laughed with each other.  We are told they were the life of the party, being one of two couples that cut up on the dance floor.  She was everything to Cliff - his caretaker, his champion, his best friend, his one true love.  He will be devastated by her loss and will require much support to navigate the coming weeks and years.

Marilyn's greatest dream was to someday become a grandmother.  That dream became a reality in November 2017 with the birth of her Grandson, Alan (aka "Little Dude").  He was Marilyn's pride and joy and is unknowingly helping us get through this tragedy with his charm and contagious laughter.  Marilyn had already started planning for his first birthday party, spending hours on Pinterest looking for decorating and gift ideas.  She recently opened a savings account to start setting aside money for Alan's college education.  She would comment how his SnapChat pics would brighten up her day when she got home from work.  Our hearts hurt knowing Alan will never truly know the amazing woman that was his Nana, but we will do everything in our power to honor her memory and make sure he knows how much she adored and loved him.

We, her children, have truly appreciated the outpouring of love and compassion by our family and friends during this challenging time.  We love hearing  everyone's favorite memories of our Mother and the positive impact she had on their lives.  And, it has been overwhelming how much everyone has offered to help in whatever way they can.  In light of that, and in lieu of flowers, we are asking for funds to help us continue Mom's legacy of caring for her family - both by hiring an assistant and covering expenses for our dad and by saving for her grandson's future.  Please know how much we love, and how much she loved, each and every one of you.

With deepest gratitude,
Craig, Christine, and Cindy
