Moe's Situation

Donation protected
We are friends, neighbors, and Coworkers.  Like the friend that Moe (Maureen O'Sullivan) is to everyone she meets, this set of friends wants to lessen the burden that cancer has caused this wonderful, amazing family.   Moe's situation is a bit different.  A couple years ago, Moe's 14 year old son Thomas was diagnosed with bone cancer.  His prognosis was scary, but promising.  This unimaginable stress on the family took a huge toll on the family both emotionally and financially.   With daughter Meagan still in high school as well, they began to endure endless trips to and from hospitals,  time apart, unable to work with no supplemental income, medical expenses and bills piling up, and the stress of potential outcomes for her young son.  On numerous occasions,  IF Moe was able to make it to work, a common statement from her mouth always hit home.  She would say, "I just wish it was me, and not Thomas."
As luck would have it, Thomas pulled through a year later and made a full recovery, after surgeries, chemo, endless scares with immune system crashes, and rehab.  There was much to celebrate.
No family should have to endure that type of stress.  I would see Moe's husband Dan, at the local home improvement store where I would frequently visit and need his advice and skills in the plumbing department.  Dan would give me updates on Thomas's progress and it was the one place we got to catch up on how things were going.  He and the family were  always so upbeat and comical about everything, and so appreciative of the help they were receiving, even though we all knew it was never enough.  It was amazing to see the strength in these people.  If you knew them before all this, you couldn't help but want to be around them.  They are the most kind-hearted, giving, and hilarious souls out there.

On to our current "situation".

Back in March of this year, Moe had been trying to visit her doctor for some shoulder pain, but ran into some hurdles with the now ongoing
pandemic.  We all know how hard it was in March to get seen for even the smallest of issues.  A couple months went by, still trying to deal with her shoulder, and while at home, sustained a broken femur.  Upon evolution, they began finding cancer throughout Moe's body.
We hadn't heard from her via return text in months, and I decided it was time to see how she was doing.  When Dan returned my message with a phone call, he said to me that he had just told Moe he was going to call me.   Before he dialed, she asked him to tell us her "situation".

This family has been through the unimaginable in the past couple of years.  My wife and I, and her co-workers at the High School where we all met each other over a decade ago, have been eager to help in SOME way.  As impersonal as this is, this is our quickest, and hopefully, most beneficial avenue to help this family by lessening at least a building financial burden, while they deal with Moe's "Situation".   Thomas will be graduating high school soon, and Meagan is just starting her college career as well.   This deserving family can use anything you can give.

I know if our situations were reversed, Moe would be very first one to be pushing people out of the way to help us out any way she knew how.  We love you Moe!
