Modus Vivendi Phoenix Totem

Hi, we are DRiZ and BiSH. We are fundraising for our art project, the Modus Vivendi Totem, that will be installed at Burning Man this year.

BiSH is a veteran Buring Man artist, having installed multiple pieces of her own and assisted in the installation of others.

DRiZ is a shaman collaborating with BiSH to create an installation that delivers healing and transformation for folks who interact with our art piece. The healing and transformation will center around Burning Man's values of R.I.D.E. - radical inclusion, diversity, and equity. When each participant walks around the four cardinal poles and arrives at the central post of the installation, shamanic healing and transformation will commence. The result of this will be each person's: increased ability to include others, even those they may have found it hard to include in the past; welcoming people of all ethnicities and backgrounds into relationships, social contexts, and economic opportunities; with fewer cognitive biases, accepting others with equity.

The installation itself will be four flagged poles set away from a central post ornately carved like a phoenix, lit from below with colored lights. At the designated time, all poles will be gathered in to lean against the central post; the base will be stoked with firewood and sage; then, the whole of it will be lit to symbolize the release of shamanic power in each participant's life.

While modest in terms of Burning Man art installations, this project will still require more funds than we can afford alone.
