ModestTransitions: A Home for Inclusion & Healing

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Melanie. I am the founder and textile designer of Modest Transitions located in Philadelphia, Pa. As a designer, I strive to make people feel beautiful. Beautiful inside and out!

Modest Transitions was founded in 2019 after giving birth to my first born. I found myself deeply battling postpartum depression for over a year and the process of natural dyeing helped me in the simplest way-to cope with it.

Natural dyeing was very meditative for me and allowed me to understand life in the simplest words, preservation, and intention. Life is short and fragile so preserve it and do it with pure intentions that will bring happiness to everyone.

And for the past 2 years, I've been bringing happiness and warmth to people through my uniquely hand-dyed textiles. As a sustainable brand, our mission is to build an inclusive community to promote holistic healing through natural art and sustainability. We aim to empower women through conscious clothing, beauty, and inclusion, while respecting Mother Earth. Our inspiration comes from preserving nature. Our textiles and designs are made with natural fibers, low impact dyes and are handcrafted and hand-dyed by myself and my husband using zero-waste techniques. Therefore, creating a unique wardrobe to make you feel beautiful.

We currently own a greenhouse that serves a higher purpose, we use this space to grow our own natural dyes, flowers, and vegetables. It brings tranquility and security.

For the past 6 months my husband and I have been looking for a home for Modest Transitions. We are currently pursuing an unconventional, yet sustainable brick-and-mortar store to provide community base and low-income accessibility to textile arts, holistic healing, and inclusion.

Your generous donation will allow us to secure land to move forward with our brick-and-mortar store, purchase equipment and supplies, purchase a greenhouse with garden beds, offer free community-based workshops, and create jobs for our community.
