In the summer of 2010, I lost rights to my transcript from St. Joseph's College. I started studying Child Study to become a teacher in September 2007. I had signed up for a summer course in 2010 under the impression my financial aid would help me pay for the coursework as it had in Summer 2009. In Sept. 2010 I was given a bill for the summer course and the fall semester. If I did not pay in full, I would be pulled from my courses and charged for the month I attended of the fall semester. Against my wishes I withdrew from the college.
I enrolled in college without the assistance of either of my parents. The panic and depression I felt knowing my future in education was now out of my hands has been weighing down on me. Since leaving college, I have been through so much mentally and emotionally. I have not been able to find a job which would pay more than $20,000 a year without a Bachelor's Degree. I have been working in childcare since September of 2012. I love working with children but I am unable to hold a position to my full potential being unable to prove I have 97 credits at St. Joseph's College.
The college has full hold on my transcript. Unless I pay in full I cannot transfer to another institution to finish my Bachelor's of Child Study. I battle depression and panic disorder having lost control over this opportunity to become a teacher or have any other positions which require a Bachelor's Degree. Having worked in an early childhood setting and camp, volunteering in local theatre, and focusing on music while I couldn't attend school has made me want to return to college to become a music and drama teacher.
