MO' Peeps Are Going to Worlds!

Donation protected
We are  MO' Peeps from Carman Ainsworth Middle School in Flint, MI. We are the Middle School State Champions in VEX Robotics. This is our second year in VEX Robotics. Our teams were able to capture back-to- back state championships.  For 2018 only 6 teams are heading to the World Championship from Michigan, and two of them are MO' Peeps!

We are asking for your support to help us get to the World Competition that we qualified for, which will be taking place at the end of April in Louisville, KY. Our deadline for collecting the funds is April 11th, 2018.

This is our second year being involved in VEX Robotics Competitions. We have since worked tirelessly at building and rebuilding our robots, programming, planning, strategizing, team building, troubleshooting, problem solving and learning more and more about this fun, exciting program. We have built and rebuilt 2, sometimes 3, incredible robots that have helped us reach this high achievement.

We are very excited to be going to Worlds for the second time! It's an amazing experience and we want to make the most of it and hopefully come out on top, or at least just have a really good time trying. This is something that we  have worked very hard to accomplish. We have competed against both high school and middle school teams. In doing so, we have earned a State Championship, a State Skills Champion award,  9 Tournament Champion awards and 4 Tournament Finalist Awards. We have earned awards in Excellence, Design, Robot Skills, and Judges.  We also hosted our own tournament this season!

VEX  Robotics is an excellent STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) program that  incorporates physical activity. This program is an after school program that offers young students like us the opportunity to explore technology in a fun, positive, and safe environment. Every year is a different type of "game". As you can imagine, building robots is not cheap or easy, but someone has go to do it! And we love it!

We are going to be utilizing the funds that we collect from our kind hearted donors mainly for robot materials, but we also will be using the money for travel, boarding, food, and maybe a little fun if we have time. This is a 5 day event. Just to give you an idea of some costs. The motors used for the robots each cost $20 and we need 40 of them. Thats $800. The cortex (computers) of the robots are $250 each and we need 4 of them. Thats a $1000. These are just some of the bigger items that will be necessary,  but it's the little things that add up like nuts and bolts. Trust us when we say that anything and everything can and may go wrong with the robots and we need to be prepared to fix our robots in the spur of the moment during the competition.

We would like to extend our biggest thanks to you for taking the time to help us achieve our $6000 goal by April11th. We hope you will follow us on Facebook on our page MO' Peeps. We will be posting videos and photos of our journey along the way.

We would each like to sincerely thank you,
Parker, Sierra, Haize, Emery, Jack, Max, Noah, Faith, Adrien, Lydia, Micah, Chase and Arryonna.
