Help Pay for Butters' Surgery!

Hello Friends!

Most of you know how much William and I love our dog, Butters. This high-fiving fur ball is truly the light of our lives, from the sloppy kisses he gives us in the morning, to the clumsy happy dance he does when we arrive home each evening! He's our fluffy little son that I was lucky enough to find roaming the streets of El Monte nearly 3 years ago. Now, as I type, Butters is in the Operating Room, and we'd like to ask our friends and family for financial help.

On this past Valentine's  Saturday, while William and I were attending a family wedding, Butter's began to act a bit strangely. My mom noticed him not eating, sleeping quite a bit, and vomiting multiple times over that night and the next day. She took him to the ER Vet, who explained he was probably dehydrated. We paid heftily for a fluid injection and took him to his regular vet at Covina Animal Hospital the next day. The X rays showed unusual lumps in his intestines and he stayed the night for monitoring of the area. When he seemed to be getting better and keeping food down, they sent him home, with the warning that no improvement may mean surgery. I took him to work with me yesterday, where the whole office fell in love with his sweet face! But while there I noticed lumps near his groin that were tangerine sized and bright red. He seemed very lazy and restless, breathing heavily and shaking with pain. His vet saw us at 830 this morning, and decided it was time for surgery.

They actually just called and explained that the lumps and painful areas are actually huge hernias, including strangulated intestinal tissue, that will have to be removed and sewn back together. Imagine this as a rolled garden hose that loses a big chunk, and must now be repaired, strand by strand.  She warned it would be a long road to recovery but that he was doing well during the procedure. It's expected to last the remainder of the afternoon. Update: The surgery is over, they did remove quite of bit of intestine. He needs to stay over the weekend at an Emergency Clinic, as this was such an intensive procedure.

Every dog mom and dad knows how scary this situation is, as well as how costly. William and I aren't prepared for this financially, nor emotionally.  A week ago we had a healthy boy who's biggest expense was ice cream shaped chew toys, now we are faced with a total bill of about $4,000, and the reality that this unexpected illness may lead to further issues with Butters.

Anyone thats ever gotten a reluctant high-five from our boy or seen his "mailman bit", knows how special he is.
We are asking for any amount you're comfortable giving, and appreciate you taking the time read about our situation. Thank you for your kindness!

Love, William, Talia and Butters
