Valentine’s Day will never be the same …
My name is Kimberly Henlin. On a day meant to celebrate love, our family lost a loved one and our hearts were broken. My beautiful little sister Stephanie died suddenly and unexpectedly 2/14/15. She had just turned 24 years old. My family needs help to cover her final expenses (cremation and two hours of time at the funeral home for her memorial).
Despite the many health issues that Stephanie was dealing with at such a young age, she was still a wonderful and loving mom to her two young children Dameon (3) and Rosa (2). Although she didn’t have much (she was legally disabled and unable to work) she even took in cats that had been abandoned. She was intelligent, compassionate and very artistically talented. Our family is still in shock from Stephanie’s loss. Her official cause of death was cardiac arrest but we do not know what led to her heart stopping and can only speculate. We are devastated that Dameon and Rosa will have to grow up without their mother.
The childrens’ maternal grandmother is especially overwhelmed by this loss as she is a part of their everyday lives and is taking care of final arrangements. Also an amazingly compassionate woman, our mother has made many sacrifices in order to do all she could to help my sister and the children. She shouldn’t have had to say goodbye to a child especially not her youngest who is the mother of her only grandchildren. I live thousands of miles away and am heartbroken that I cannot be with my family in New York during this difficult time and will not be able to attend my sister’s memorial due to serious illness in my immediate family here in Arizona. I want to do what I can to ease the financial burden so that my mother can grieve without the added stress.
Being so young and having limited income, Stephanie did not have life insurance. Our family normally helps others so it is hard for us to ask for help ourselves. Any assistance with Stephanie’s funeral costs would be deeply appreciated so that the family can focus limited resources on caring for the children. Any funds received in excess of final costs will be used directly toward taking care of the children.
