Greenhouse & Field Kids In Distress

Donation protected

We are a group of 42 visionary loving and determined leaders called Master Living19-FLL’s. Our vision is a conscious, sustainable, loving, peaceful, and unified world. This is not only to elevate conscious thinking and action on a local level but to inspire others to take the little steps necessary to evoke big change in all the communities on a global level. In fact some of us like to refer to to ourselves as Grateful Angles Nobly Giving Service To All

Paying it Forward

ML19-FLL mission is to not only impact the environmental issues here in South Florida, but to also be in service to programs and nonprofit organizations around the world that share our same vision. That’s why we have chosen KIDS IN DISTRESS aka “KID” as our benefactor.

KID serves more than 11,000 at-risk children and their families in Broward and Palm Beach counties each year through a continuum of solution focused programs.

Since 1979, Kids in Distress has a demonstrated record of caring for at-risk, abused and neglected children through a full continuum of solution focused programs. These programs include:
• A full-service preschool,
• An aftercare program
• Family counseling / support center
• Preservation services
• Foster care / adoption services
as well as a state of the art dental and optometry clinic. Kids in Distress depends on the community's continued support, this is where ML19- FLL comes in.

We headed on over to Kids in Distress and discovered two playgrounds, the kickball field, and an area that was a failed garden right next to it. When we inquired about what happened we were told that the garden started out great but the weather and the iguanas made a challenge to the point where are they gave up. After putting our thinking caps on we came up with the concept of building a greenhouse and restoring the field to be a field of love and dreams. A ambitious goal consdering the time frame and expense, but what the heck we are up to big things to change the world.

The approx. size of the greenhouse is 15’x40’. The materials for the deck, planter boxes, wall, etc will all be constructed from recycled wood/metal. We, as a team, will get to decide what we want to grow in there. Butterfly garden (inside and out), orchids inside and vegetables outside, etc. We can also replant the grass in the field and add a few trees. We can use compost (with the help of non-profits) and teach the kids/community how it all works. We can also enroll KID (kids in distress) and Health in the Hood (a nonprofit that grows gardens in urban neighborhoods) to work together in maintaining this garden as a place to continue to teach kids healthy cooking, gardening and fitness. We will use positive affirmation words or wording to create a wall that will act as a natural barrier and protect the greenhouse. If time/weather permits, we will paint the wall green possibly adding foul polls and other things that resemble a baseball field further time/money would allow for building some seats against the wall so they will now have shade and a place to rest.

We can use your support with donations. We begin construction on June 24 and complete the project on June 25, that's right two days !!

If you would like to support us as a volunteer for the build out please email us at [email redacted]

We are looking for 100+ volunteers and their tools.
