Hope for Zena

Donation protected
My Fiance and I adopted our 2.5 year old female Cane Corso (Zena) last year from Ohio, hoping to give her a better life. We don't have children, and felt that this little girl would complete our little family (which already includes a Cane Corso known as Beau).

Anyone who knows us, knows the love and devotion we have for these dogs and we go above and beond to ensure they are always happy, healthy and well taken care of, including car rides to "Grandma" and "Grandpas",  playtime outside, favourite treats in stock on the kitchen counter, and SQUISHY warm cuddles in our little double bed at night ..just to feel the warmth in your heart knowing that they are happily snoring away beside you with their head on your chest and love in their hearts.

For Christmas we purchased a Jolly Ball for Zena which she instantly chewed a hole in so that she could get a better grip on it. We are always so careful with our pets and they are always supervised while playing with their toys, however somehow she managed to ingest 3 pieces of this ball which would lead to costing us thousands in vet bills.

It was only last week that the pieces of that ball eventually made their way from her stomach into her intestines, causing a blockage and resulting in our little girl to fall to near death in the matter of hours.

Zena went into a $2000 surgery last Thursday to have the ball removed form her intestines, which went really well..
so we thought.

On Sunday February 15, she began leaking rapidly from her incision and had to be rushed into the Rossmore Emergency right away, where her chances of making it were slim. She was put onto immediate antibiotics through intravenous to fight the infection, which was another $1000 bill.

She is now with the Foxboro Animal Hospital waiting to undergo a second $2000 surgery in the morning to determine the cause of infection and whether she will ever be able to come home with her family again.

Zena's friends and family will tell you that she is hands-down one of the sweetest, most loving pups you will ever meet. With a constant smile on her face, and a wiggly little bum she is most definatley a blessing to us and those who know her.

We are currently attempting to sell some personal items to help pay for surgery but time is running out quickly.

If you can help in anyway, we would sincerley appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts as this little girl is our world, and deserves one more chance. <3
