Anni Needs a Car

Someone very important to me and my family needs a car. Her name is Anni Waugh. I know Anni because of my daughter. My daughter is deaf and blind and Anni is my daughter's deafblind intervener. She acts as interpreter for and facilitator to the world around my daughter. She has a big heart and endless desire to make those around her feel happy.

Unfortunately, Anni has had a streak of bad luck. Two weeks ago, her brother was murdered in their native Jamaica. The news sent the grandmother that raised her into the hospital and the rest of the family looking to Anni to pick up the pieces from where she lives in Texas. Anni has been using the money she earns here to support her Jamaican family for some time.

Things got worse when Anni's car was stolen last week from her apartment parking lot. Now, her ability to provide for herself, her family and to work with my daughter has been put at risk because she cannot afford a new one right away. We've been scrambling to help find a solution that would provide her with safe, reliable transportation.

There is no one more deserving than Anni.

One last detail: Anni is completely deaf. Anni is very proud and would not want me to say that for pity's sake. I mention it because I want you to know that she is accustomed to overcoming obstacles on her own. This time though, I think she could use a little help.
