On March 28th, 2020, I will be running the Washington D.C. marathon and fundraising for the race on behalf of NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland. As some of you may know, I've spent the last 5 months interning at this remarkable non-profit organization in Baltimore, MD, which is the leading grassroots pro-choice advocacy organization in Maryland. At NARAL Pro-Choice MD, we organize and advocate to protect every individual's right to the full range of of reproductive health options. With the current administration's behavior and legislature changes throughout the country, supporting the local organizations doing work on the ground is hugely important.
My work at NARAL Pro-Choice MD has included researching and tracking emergency contraceptive policies at Maryland universities, expanding relationships with allied student groups to increase access to emergency contraceptives on campuses, and investigating Maryland crisis pregnancy centers (fake abortion clinics), among other projects. I have experienced firsthand the significant impact that this work has on the community of Baltimore and greater Maryland, and have also witnessed the successful implementation of programs and legislature that other interns have worked on tirelessly.
Please consider donating to this fundraiser for a great cause. My goal is to raise $500, plus half of the race registration fee of $115, for a total goal of $557.50. Any amount helps and is greatly appreciated - I can attest that every dollar will be carefully spent at NARAL Pro-Choice MD and will directly help increase and protect access to reproductive healthcare.
