Deadline Fundraiser

Hi everyone. Exciting news! I'm embarking on my next recording project, Deadline! During the peak of the pandemic, I joined a song writing club with a bunch of very talented Australians (Shane Nicholson, Felicity Urquhart, Josh Cunningham (Waifs), Sam Hawksley, Jedd Hughes and others). The brief being that we were to individually write a song to a prompt, and submit it to the group by midnight Thursday each week. Not for criticism or collaboration (although that was possible), but purely to keep the songwriting muscle from atrophying. To keep us in the game, as it were. I lasted about 8 months but discovered, when the heat was on, that when it came to songwriting, I began to learn how to step out of the way and let the song chart it's own course. I found myself writing in a way I hadn't encountered and I found the songs took me to places I'd never thought I'd go. Some unearthed deep issues I'd been covering over, some just quirky outlooks on life as we knew it during the pandemic, but all of them interesting. In January this year, I sat with my producer and friend Sam Hawksley (over from Nashville) and we overwhelmingly agreed that something needed to be done to let others hear them. Sam agreed to produce them back in Nashville, leaning into his musician network over there and I've agreed to see if I could scrape up some funding to help us cover the costing of hiring musicians, production, mixing, mastering and release. Due to the ever shrinking world of music income I'm reaching out to anyone who would be willing to jump on board with us to help fund this project. You can donate as much or as little to help and every cent raised will be put into this project in the hope we can let the world hear them.
