Help Afghan citizens during COVID-19 outbreak
My name is Dr. Aziza Azizi, a public health doctor in the Netherlands. Being born and raised in Afghanistan, I see it as my duty to help people of the country I still call home.
The Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic has had a major impact worldwide. Measures such as a total social lock-down have pushed people all around the world to restrain from any form of contact. Lower income communities in Afghanistan are one of those populations that still continue to suffer the most. Staying home equals having to withhold from an income barely enough to provide for basic life necessities such as food, water and shelter. People relying on hourly wages being most affected. In the end all results in families, women and children not dying from the COVID-19 virus, but from hunger. Afghanistans current situation is already difficult, with a poverty rate of 55% estimated in 2019. Together we can stop this from happening.
To help in feeding these families and their kids, I’m working with several civil society activists in Afghanistan to mobilize resources and join the efforts of others on the ground to help families in need across Afghanistan.
You can be sure assured that that your donation will fully and directly go to families of lower-wage labourers and the people who have become unemployed due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The funds will be used to provide families of food packages including:
- 1 bag floor (24 kg)
- 3 kg Rice
- 2kg lentils
- 3 L cooking oil
- 500 G green tea
- 2 Kg sugar
- 2 pieces of washingsoap
The total cost for this package per family is €50.
