Help for Andrew

Donation protected
For those of you who don't know him, Andrew Bailey is a 34 year old  severely physically disabled man with a rare genetic disease called Friedeich's Ataxia. He normally lives a bright busy life cheering up all who are with him.
He lives in an adapted flat with 24 hour care.

Since 8th January Andrew has been critically ill in ITU at St Thomas'. He went in with severe pneumonia and after a series of medical emergencies he now breathes with a tracheostomy and is largely unresponsive.

We are certain that he can hear us and it is so important that as many familiar voices are talking to him  as possible. Andrew is blind so voices are even more significant to him. However the  funding for his 24 hour care and some of his benefits have been stopped as he has been in hospital for more than 28 days. Without this funding Andrew risks losing his wonderful carers and is facing hard financial times. We feel that when he does become more responsive, not having familiar carers around and paying bills are not things he should have to worry about.

Three of his carers are willing to still come in for a couple of days a week but as this is voluntary will need their expenses paid.  Other donations received will go towards relieving Andrew's financial worries and helping Andrew's family and friends to visit as much as they would like to, hospital car parking charges and congestion charges are slowly mounting up.

I hope you may be able to help and we and Andrew are extremely grateful for any support.
