Mitch's Legacy

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Steve Glover and I am the cousin of Alan Place, father of Mitchell Place. I am fundraising for the family of this special person in our lives that we lost suddenly on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Mitchell Place, only 29 years old, was the victim of a tragic accident that took his life while leaving his work place. Not only does he leave behind his loving wife Jaymee but their beautiful 3 year old daughter Layne. To add to this tragic note, Jaymee is about to give birth to their 2nd daughter , who she will be naming Hayden.

This loss is felt in the hearts of so many. He was truly a remarkable man and father who was taken from us far too soon. Mitch loved his family and friends above all else, and the outpouring of support that everyone has shown his family is truly amazing during this incredibly traumatic time.

To know Mitch is to love Mitch

Three year old Layne was the center of Mitch’s world and meant everything to him. Layne would tell him “daddy your my best friend”. Mitch would take Layne to his dad’s cottage on many occasions to spend daddy/daughter time together while mom Jaymee was at work.
Whenever Mitch walked into a room the room would light up. His huge smile and warm eyes were his trade-mark. He was known as a man that that would do anything to help people out.
For example he would show up at my 88 year old mother’s home after a large snowfall and shovel her driveway or go around cutting all of the neighbor’s lawns on his days off work ( at no cost to those neighbors of course ).
Mitch's job as a hydro lineman required him to travel across Ontario to help restore power following ice storms and severe weather conditions. It was this type of event that had brought him to Ottawa the day he died.

Mitch’s love for Jaymee was deep. She is left now left trying to figure out how to navigate this world without him. Her whole world is upside down. She feels like Mitch will still walk in through the door with his big, loving smile on his face.

How will these funds be spent ?

It's so rare that we get an opportunity to affect so much change in one’s life. It starts small. A simple act of kindness, but it can ripple out and provide stability and a future.

The passing of Mitch has left Jaymee, Layne and her soon to be delivered sister Hayden in a difficult financial position. We are all devastated by the passing of Mitch and the family was not prepared for the high costs of living without him being a provider for their family. We want to be able to provide stability for the next few months for the family and create a trust fund for Layne and her sister for their future education.

The dollars raised through this fund will go to Jaymee for use for the family's immediate financial needs. Additionally I will be setting up a trust fund for the children's education that hopefully will provide them with a secure future.

From the bottom of our hearts we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible in giving (any amount will help).
Any donations are greatly appreciated while we navigate through this difficult time.
