Mitchelton Football Club Rebuild Appeal

Donation protected
Our Club was devastated by the floods, with all of our fields, sheds and clubhouse being inundated with water. We’ve had amazing people help us with the clean up, but the rebuild is going to need resources that we just don’t have as a community, not-for-profit club. Please help where you can!

Insurance covers some areas of damage, but not all, and there is ongoing legal discussion about the extent of this coverage.

We have applied for $5,000 of funding from the Sports and Recreation Disaster Recovery Program, we are looking into grants that have been made available by various organisations and our local council and government members are helping us where they can (any assistance with grant identification and writing would be gratefully accepted). All of this takes time to make it through to our coffers. As a not-for-profit organisation, we do not have a large buffer of cash in the bank, particularly at the beginning of a season when we have more outgoings than incomings.

We have received very generous offers from a GoFundMe that has been set up and we will use this money to get our Club up and running as soon as possible, in the following areas (estimates as we have them to date):

*Repairing all field lighting (est $40,000 + TBA actual by end of week)

*Replacing Field 1 and 3 fences ($49,000)

*Fencing Field 5 ($40,000)

*Getting Field 5 match-ready and repair of grass on Fields 1, 7, 8 ($40,000)

*Fixing all field irrigation (TBA tomorrow)

*Painting some of the Club

*Replacing shelving

*Replacing the shipping container

*Replacing fridges ($9,000)

*Purchasing enough balls and equipment to get back to training

We are very aware that much of our region has been impacted by these floods and that our needs are not unique. The Committee and the coaches of the Club are working creatively to ensure we are back to some form of football operations as soon as possible, and offers of help that we are receiving (financially and in kind) mean that we will be back on the pitch sooner rather than later.
