Kora's Cranial Conundrum

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family-

Miss Kora is 4.5 months old and was recently diagnosed with Infant Torticollis, which occurs when pressure is put on the sternocleidomastoid muscle. This muscle runs on both sides of the neck from the back of the ears to the collarbone and the pressure causes neck muscles on one side to tighten, making it difficult for Kora to turn her head which has now formed abnormally.  This is also causing her head to grow outwards to the left (width wise) and forward (bulging), and her entire right side is flat.

We had an evaluation for a DOC Band (helmet) to correct the issue, and she is in need of one to assist her growth and development.

Although Mitchell (aka Dad!) is a United States Marine, Tricare (military insurance) does not cover the cost of a helmet as insurance considers it to be "cosmetic," something to beautify the baby, when that is certainly not the case. When we think of head shape, everything is formed like an oval. Bike helmets, sport helmets, etc. Kora's  head shape, growing at the rate it is without a DOC band, would not be able to fit into these molds.
This abnormality directly impacts her jaw line as everything is off balance.

Without this device  we risk many further issues down the road for Kora.   A baby's head is most moldable between 4 and 6 months, so now would be the most effective time to help her.

We need your help!

Please, this year we need only to care for our daughter.   No gift is to small.

Thank you in advance for your support.

--Love,

Frankie and Mitchell
