Dear Family and Friends,
This May I will be experiencing my first international mission trip with Hope Road Nicaragua through Emmanuel Church. My friend, Lauren Rau, has been going on these trips for years now and has always asked me to come with. I’ve always dreamt of going on this kind of trip. That time has finally come!
We will be partnering with the churches and community throughout 28 communities that Hope Road Nicaragua supports around the capital of Managua. We will be participating in multiple feeding programs, prayer walks, sports with the kids, and most likely some kind of construction/painting.
Sometimes we get used to our comfortable standard of living and forget that there are many people in the world who don’t even have their basic needs met; the need for clean water, consistent meals to eat and reliable shelter to live in. Going on this trip has always been a dream of mine since I was baptized in 2010. Being a college student, going on this trip will help me see first-hand how blessed I truly am and how I can use my God-given gifts to help others. I’m sure participating in this mission trip will have a positive long-term effect on me.
I’m sending you this letter because you are someone whose support I would genuinely appreciate. I would love your support in two areas. First of all, I’m asking for you to pray for me and my 15 other team members. Pray that my attitude and hands-on work will be pleasing to God and worthwhile for the people we are going to be serving.
Second, I am asking for your financial support. I am responsible for raising $1800 to pay for all of my expenses during the trip. Any donation you could provide would be greatly appreciated. You could send a check to me made out to Emmanuel Church with my name in the memo line.
