Three years ago while serving a mission in Guatemala, a reoccurring problem we had as missionaries was finding baptism clothes for our investigators. We would go to small clothing stores (which had clothing usually donated from DI or Goodwill) trying to find clothes to fit each person. Who knew white clothing was so hard to find! Despite the efforts of ourselves and our Zone Leaders who would spend a good chunk of their day searching for white baptism outfits, many times the clothes were see-through, too big or too small, stained, or would even have small holes in them. I remember my first convert was a larger lady, and our Zone didn’t have any white clothes big enough to fit her. We spent the whole day of her baptism searching for white clothes that would fit. The only clothes we could find turned out to be see through, which we didn’t know until she came out of the water. This happened several times before baptisms. Our goal is to raise money for baptism clothes so that each Zone in Mission Guatemala Retalhuleu can have several matching, thick, stain-free baptism jumpsuits for their amazing investigators to be baptized in, and to save time searching for clothes that could be spent finding people to teach.
As returned missionaries, we LOVE the people of Guatemala and love our converts. We know the mission would benefit so much by having ample amount of these white jumpsuits. The best part is that not only will donating help our cause, but will benefit Guatemalans as well. We plan to have the jumpsuits made by locals, which by doing so will profit them tremendously.
Thank you so so much for your donations!
