Miss Jordan's Garden

Jordan Jade Taylor will always will be remembered as a beautiful, happy, bubbly, friendly seven-year-old girl who was in grade 3 at St Michael’s Primary School in Kaleen in Canberra.  One evening in May 2017 she said “Good Night” to her mum, dad and brother and went off to bed at her normal bed time of 8pm, just like she did most nights.  She had swimming lessons that afternoon and everything seemed normal.  She woke around 5 in the morning with a headache, went to mum and dads room, climbed into a warm bed with mum.  That headache was cause by a cancerous Grade 4 Medulloblastoma tumour, that had bleed onto her brain.  Jordan was in a kept on life support at the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick, for the next week and on Friday 26th of May we as Jordan’s parents made the hardest decision of our lives and turned off her machines.  Jordan succumbed to the strain of breathing and passed away, 2 weeks before her eighth birthday.

In memory of our beautiful daughter, we are working with St Michael’s School, Kaleen Canberra to build a sustainable garden that is energy efficient, producing fresh produce all year round and educating young minds into making this world a better place.  Jordan was a beautiful, fun loving, caring girl who loved her family and friends.  She was giving, loved science and was just starting to find her own way in determining her causes and planning to make this world a better place.  Working with the school we have come to an agreement to build a garden that will allow students better understand how we can make this world a better place, growing nutritious food that minimises water usage, grows all year round, compost our waste, sustainable energy production and storage to run the process.  All of these elements will be included in the curriculum for all students of the school.  We also hope that this will increase the community within the school that has helped our family so much during a time of need.

All funds raised will go directly to the building of the garden and greenhouse, and we as Jordan's family hope that this will give the school an area that all kids for many years to come will get to enjoy.  We are hopeful to complete this project by the end of this year 2017.
