Miriam and Roisin's 24h fast for Nairobi Mission
Donation protected
Hello everyone.
Miriam and Roisin here. As many of you may know, we are both newly qualified nurses with a love for travelling.
This September, we are embarking on our biggest adventure yet, visiting the most spectacular country that is - Kenya. We both enjoy exploring new countries and immersing ourselves in different cultures. While we wanted to enjoy a holiday together, when we decided on Africa we both knew there was something more we had to do. Having grown up hyper aware of the poverty and underprivilege that exists in the developing world from our respective family's travels, we both knew we wanted to play our part and make a difference, however big or small.
The Saint Patrick's Missionary Society, Kiltegan do God's work everyday throughout Africa and other developing world countries. In Nairobi they cordinate several projects including anti human trafficking campaigns and face justice issues esspeciallly for those who can not afford legal representation. They tend to the most vulnerable in society such as the communities in the slums, providing food and shelter. Additionally, they fund the education on sanitary pad making by hand so that no girl is absent from school. With the basic necessity of clean drinking water a luxury, this Mission drills boreholes to harvest water by providing their villages with tanks. Through donations, this work as well as funding medical interventions is possible.
As we visit Nairobi, we will volunteer with the Kiltegan fathers, seeing first hand the hardship that exists but the impact of their efforts as they strive to establish equal treatment for all.
It is our hope that we can fundraise as much as possible to help support these projects going forward.
We would appreciate your donation.
Miriam and Roisin xx
