Life can change in an instant. On June 21, that’s exactly what happened to Miranda with a freak accident at a horse show. Simply slipping down the steps of the motor home left her with a broken tibia and fibula above her right ankle, needing two plates and 16 screws. She has been sidelined since.

As many of you reading this know (and a lot of you may not) horse trainers do not earn their living boarding horses. Most days, a barn is lucky to break even from boarding fees. Her source of income comes from her skills as a successful trainer and taking customers to horse shows. Without the ability to ride (the timeline is still unknown for when she can swing a leg over a horse) and haul to shows, she has no way to support her business and maintain the level of care her customers and horses are used to.

Not only can she not go to horse shows, she cannot give lessons to help maintain the lesson program. Giving a successful lesson means being on your feet for an hour+ per lesson and have the ability to intervene quickly should something happen; anything less would be a safety risk. Not being able to perform these tasks herself comes at the cost of paying others to do it for her. These additional expenses are on top of the mounting medical bills and normal everyday expenses.

Her customers and friends have rallied around her, from riding to cleaning to feeding to changing bandages, but we can only do so much. Doug and Miranda are good people, the kind you’d want in your corner, that would give you their last dollar to make sure you didn’t go without. She is not one to ask for help. So we are asking you to donate to get her through this difficult time.

We are targeting a goal of $15k to assist in covering medical expense and physical therapy costs. Her deductible reset on July 1, so she is essentially starting over with her insurance.
