Miranda's Heart Transplant

Hello to all, thank you for visiting this fundraiser page! My sister who is 16 now has had a very challenging short 16 years of life, Miranda was born in 2001 and at 11 months old she was diagnosed with Leukemia, she spent a little over a year in St. Louis Children's hospital. She was in need of a bone marrow transplant and luckily our oldest sister was 100% DNA match for the transplant. Miranda did very well with the procedure at just a year old. She went into remission and has since been in remission! However, For the last 4 years She has been diagnosed with Cardio myopathy & since then has turned into Restricted Cardio Myopathy which there is no cure for besides the heart transplant.  Miranda would become very exhausted after her daily teenage activities which was a sign that her body was over working. Miranda was put on an adult dosage medication because the children's dosage just wasn't doing the job. Her heart does not pump the blood through her ventricles like it should which is pushing blood into her lungs. Her heart is hardening and her meds are not helping any longer. We are now in St Louis Children's Hospital and she is getting all the test required for the clearance to be put on the heart transplant donors list. She got a PIC line put in today to start a medicine (Milinone) this will help relax her heart and hopefully prolong the progression of hardening ! If her heart reaches a 6 (which she is at a 3) she will not qualify for a heart! Her body will reject it! Due to the blood flowing to the lungs they tested her lungs to see if she would need to have a lung transplant as well, we found out today that her lungs are good( thank goodness) Miranda also suffers sever scoliosis in her back. She is to wear a brace to straighten her spine! She also hyperthyroidism. My sister is a loving, caring, beautiful , smart and amazing young lady! She just got her license and she loves to be with her friends and family! She has over come so much in her short 16 years. Our father passed away in 2014 so my mother is her only financial support. I am hoping to help share this fundraiser to help my mother with cost of food, traveling expenses, hospital stays, etc! I will keep everyone updated as we know more.
