A New Van for Our School

Donation protected
I started this campaign because, as you may know, I left my high school teaching job to start a preschool on the campus of the Paradise Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church a little over two years ago, initially to address the need for a quality childcare program for the children of the refugees in our community. What started out as a very small program with only three students and two staff members has blossomed into Miracle Moments Child Development Center, a thriving organization committed to the education and care of close to 28 preschool students and 9 staff members!

Because many of them do not have convenient means of transportation, one of the services we provide for our refugees is transportation. While the Department of Social Services offers subsidies for the actual care we provide these families, transportation is a service for which we receive no compensation. Every morning we pick them up and every afternoon we drop them off in my own personal van. While we have done this for more than a dozen children for the past two years, because I can only fit five carseats in my van at one time (and thus have to make multiple trips), the wear on my own vehicle is beginning to take its tole. With close to 200,000 miles on its odometer, the van often needs repairs–an added expense for an already tight budget.

In February of this year, we set out to raise $10,000 to purchase a 9-passenger van to assist us in continuing this ministry. Not only will a vehicle of this size allow us to more efficiently transport children to and from home without making multiple trips, but it would also aid us in taking our students on field trips!

Are you able to help us reach our goal? If you are able and willing to donate, I would humbly ask that you consider our little school and the impact we are having and will continue to have on the children in our community with a new van. Miracle Moments Child Development Center operates as a subsidiary of International Children’s Relief Fund, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. That means your gift is tax deductible and handled with the highest level of care and professionalism.

I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our program and the use of a new van. Thank you for your time in reading this letter and for your prayerful consideration with regard to our program’s needs.

Warmest Regards,
