A Miracle for Megan

Donation protected
I have created this page to help a family very dear to my heart.  Their daughter Megan has just gone through her 34th surgery in only 14 years.  Here is their story:

Megan was adopted by Mark and Cammie at 10 days old and has been an amazing and precious gift from God for the Shepherd family.  She was born without a hip socket and also had seizures and kidney blockage which added to her issues early on. She had her first surgery at 21 days old.  So, unlike most babies who are cuddled and held close, Megan was in a full body cast for much of the beginning of her life, which made it very difficult to have the close skin to skin contact that is so important for parents and babies to bond. Early on, doctors did not think she would ever be able to walk or talk, but against all odds and through countless other setbacks, she proved them wrong.

Thanks to the tireless dedication of Mark and Cammie, Megan has made great strides, but she still has a very long road ahead. Even though she has just had her 34th surgery at 14 years old, Megan keeps a smile on her face and is a joy to those around her. She even recently wrote a thank you note to her doctor for taking good care of her for the last 11 years.

There are a lot of unknowns for Megan, including not knowing why she has trouble fighting off infection. This makes it difficult for doctors to find the right courses of treatment that could potentially give Megan some relief from her constant pain.

With all of Megan's doctor's appointments, surgeries and other testing, Cammie has been unable to work so that she can ensure that Megan is receiving the best care when she needs it. The time away from work and the travel expenses to and from all of the appointments and surgeries have taken a financial toll.

The Shepherd family also brought in six children around 6 years ago after they lost their mother to cancer. Mark and Cammie are such giving and caring people that have always gone above and beyond for anyone who needs help. They would never ask for or expect anything from anyone, but we would like to give everyone the opportunity to support this amazing family in their time of need. Megan's mother Cammie says that although Megan has different abilities than most people, her heart's cry is very evident. In the midst of her storm, she still wants to be used of God.

Please consider helping The Shepherd Family so that they can focus on Megan's needs as she has a long road ahead of her.  Anyone who knows this amazing family, knows that they would never ask for anything other than prayer. While the prayers are always very much appreciated by the Shepherd family, we ask that you also consider supporting them financially if you are able. This is our opportunity to show them how thankful we are for all that they have done for us over the years.
